NORTH LITTLE ROCK —  Conway’s girls and boys tennis teams won all but one match before the rain halted play in a 7A-Central matchup Thursday at Burns Park.

For the girls, Alex Taylor won, 8-2, and Leah Riner win 8-0 in the two singles matches played. Both doubles teams also won, with the team of Amy Bell and Morgan Cummins winning 8-1, and Ashley Wofford and Jenny Walls winning 8-0. Molly Evans and Kortni Gifford were up 5-1 before play was halted.

On the boys side, Karthik Garimella and Robbie Powell each won their matches, 8-0, while the doubles team of Blake Bell and Quinlan Swain won, 8-4. Sam Roberts and Kristian Lenser lost 8-4 while Will Morris was ahead 3-0 when his match ended due to weather.

"We have a big week next week with some key matches and our players continue to improve," Conway coach Jeff Gifford said.  "We played well today with the only disappointment being the weather, which meant that many of our kids didn’t get a chance to get on the court."

Conway returns to action on Monday with a home match against Pulaski Academy.
