GREENBRIER  — Greenbrier quarterback Neal Burcham spent more time reading to third-graders during a Literacy Day Friday afternoon than he did on the field Friday night against Huntsville.

Burcham, who read and talked to the Eastside Elementary Students for about 30 minutes that afternoon, completed 8 of 13 passes for 190 yards and three touchdowns and ran for another in slightly more than 15 minutes of action as the Panthers built a 40-0 halftime lead and coasted to a 53-14 victory over Huntsville at John Hawks Memorial Field at Don Jones Stadium.

Chase Roberts took over at quarterback for the Panthers (5-0, 2-0) and completed nine of 10 passes for 119 yards and two touchdowns as the clock ran continuously the entire second half under the mercy rule.

Burcham passed 15 yards to Jacob Colbert for one touchdown, 36 and 39 yards to Scott Cavin and ran 44 yards for another touchdown as Greenbrier built a 28-0 lead in about 18 minutes.
