Hendrix athletes honored for sportsmanship

Eight Hendrix athletes in eight fall sports have earned All-Sportsmanship Awards by the Southern Athletic Association.

SAA officials selected one athlete from each school for the awards, which are based on character and fair play.

Hodapp, Thompson make All-Region team

Two Hendrix football players, Miles Thompson and Nate Hodapp, have been chosen to the South Region First Team.

Thomps0n, a quarterback, led the nation in total offense with 3,472 yards and led the SAA conference in total yards per game and touchdowns with 37. He is also first in the SAA conference in completions with 238 and a percentage of 65 percent.

Hodapp a senior from Mansfield, Texas made the list as he is second in the nation in total receiving yards and receiving yards per game. In the SAA Hodapp led in receiving yards per game with 137.4. He has had 86 receptions for 1374 yards and 15 touchdowns.

The teams, selected in balloting by South Region sports information directors and D3football.com staff, were chosen from 240 nominations by Division III member schools.

Baudoin Player of Week

After keeping the Sugar Bears within striking distance of No. 21 Texas A&M nearly wire-to-wire on Saturday to wrap up a week in which she averaged 19 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists,Taylor Baudoin has been named the Southland Conference Player of the Week.

Baudoin, a senior forward from Columbus, Miss., led the Sugar Bears to a 2-1 week with blowout wins over Williams Baptist and Central Baptist before the close contest with the Aggies on Saturday. Baudoin scored 18 points with four rebounds, three assists and a block in 38 minutes in the 72-61 loss.

In that CBC win, Baudoin had 22 points, six rebounds and five assists, following a 17-point, four-rebound effort in 20 minutes against WBC.

Baudoin and the Sugar Bears will travel to Mobile, Ala. to take on South Alabama on Saturday, then head to Miami to conclude non-conference play at the FIU Holiday Tournament, taking on Clemson and then either FIU or North Dakota State.

Hendrix’s Price earns swimming honor

The Southern Athletic Association has announced that Bailey Price has been named the SAA Men’s Swimming and Diving Male Student-Athlete of the Week.

Price a senior from Fort Smith, had a great meet by winning both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events at the Hendrix Invitational. His 190.50 total on 1-meter was a personal best for six rounds.
