MCPHERSON, Kan. — Both Central Baptist College’s men’s and women’s teams saw their soccer seasons end Friday in the quarterfinals of the National Christian College Athletic Association’s Regional tournament here at Central Christian College.
Southwestern Christian defeated the Mustangs 3-1. The Lady Mustangs lost to Dallas Baptist 4-2.
Southwestern Christhian, which had a 9-3 edge on shots-on-goal, scored all three of its goals within 26 minutes in the second half. Nicholas Doyle scored the Mustangs’ only goal at 83:08 off an assist from Christian Saavedra.
Chance Murphy had six saves for the Mustangs.
Dallas Baptist took a 2-0 lead over the Lady Mustangs in the first half. Then, CBC drew within 3-3 on goals by Abby Ray at 63:51 and Kalan Pope at 68:37. Brittany Lane clinced things for DBU with a goal at 82:47.
Dallas Baptist had a whopping 19-5 advantage in shots on-goal. The Lady Mustangs’ Raechel Rogers was called on to make 15 saves. The two Dallas Baptist goalies were not required to make a save.
