
   
Arkansas High School Rodeo Competitors named Team Champions at Memphis

Last weekend, Arkansas High School Rodeo athletes competed against six other state associations to win the Tennessee Challenge.
The Tennessee Challenge is held every spring at the Shelby Showplace Arena in Memphis, Tenn.
High school rodeo contestants from Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Kentucky, Florida, Illinois and Tennessee were there, with Arkansas coming out on top after winning four events.
Braden Evatt from Vilonia, won the Saddle Bronc Riding, with identical scores of 71 posted each day. Kelsey Meek won the Breakaway Roping with blazing times of 3.04 and 3.07 seconds.
The Goat Tying event winner was Holly Adkisson from Mount Vernon with times of 9.61 on Saturday and 8.15 on Sunday. Travis Holland of Bee Branch and Justin Pruitt of Greenbrier won the Team Roping Average with times of 6.68 on Saturday and 5.44 seconds on Sunday.
The Arkansas High School Rodeo Association season runs from August to July each year with regional rodeos across the state.
The Don Owen Sports Arena in Conway will host a Regional High School Rodeo on May 17 and 18. The fundraiser this year is raffling off a CM 2 horse slant trailer. The trailer also travels that state, is can be seen at JR's Hobby Horse on Hwy 65 North in Conway.
Tickets are $5 for one or three for $10. The money raised from ticket sales goes to the travel fund. The top four contestants in each event earn a trip to the National High School Finals in July.
