As expected, the University of Central Arkansas, Board of Trustees approved an 11 percent increase - $40 a semester - in tuition for full-time students. The greatly simplified fee structure would charge $35 an hour for one to 11 hours of credit, and a flat $395 for 12 hours or more, which was considered a full-time lead. Dr. Jeff Farris, UCA president, said the total cost of a full-time student, living on campus and having a 21-meal plan would amount to $2,518 - $120 more than the $2,398 a similar student would have paid for the past year. Out-of-state residents would continue to pay twice the tuition of their in-state counterparts.
