SEARCY - Brooke Mayor went 3-for-4 with two RBI, and threw four strikeouts in seven innings, leading St. Joseph to a 6-5 win over Rosebud Saturday in the quarterfinals of the regional tournament at Harding Academy.
Mayor also scored two runs and drew two walks. She allowed nine hits and five runs, two earned, and gave up three walks on the mound.
"We did a good job of pecking away almost each inning on offense," St. Joseph coach Debra Wilhite said. "Our defense did a great job holding runners on base and not letting them score. Although two erros in the bottom of the 7th made for a much too interesting game."
Maegan Kordsmeier and Veronica Bausom each went 1-for-2, with Bausom drawing a walk and hitting an RBI.
St. Joseph plays in the semifinals at 3 p.m. on Monday.
