HENDRIX TRUSTEES DECIDE TO ADD FOOTBALL
After a 13-month study and debate, Hendrix College's board of trustees has decided to add football to the college's athletic program. Football was discontinued at Hendrix after the 1960 season because of costs. No timetable was set for football to be implemented, but trustees said the sport will only be implemented after start-up costs are raised from external sources. Trustees have also voted to add women's lacrosse with the same stipulation. Further details in Wednesday's editions of the Log Cabin Democrat.

Bulldogs get win over Riverview

SEARCY Cole Breeding and John Kordsemeier each hit 4 RBI, and St. Joseph qualified for the state tournament with a 16-6 win over Riverview at Harding Academy on Saturday.

John Kordsmeier and Breeding each went 3-for-4 for St. Joseph (14-2), with Breeding scoring two runs. Jeremy Elsinger and Austen Moix also went 3-for-4, each hitting an RBI. Daniel Antoine and Marcus Kordsmeier each went 2-for-4 with Antoine scoring twice and Marcus Kordsmeier hitting two RBI. Preston Kordsmeier scored two runs, and added a triple.

Despite the offense, Brent Bruich said that the game had a sluggish start.

"We had a very slow start. Maybe the guys were a bit too keyed up or nervous to start," Bruich said. "We settled down and hit the ball all over the yard. I'm proud of the guys, it's always nice to get to the state tournament. The pressure of getting there is off now so hopefully we will relax Monday and play solid."

Daniel Antoine got his first win of the season, pitching three innings and allowing one run and four hits in relief. John Kordsmeier, the starter, allowed five earned runs and five hits over two innings of work.
