n Ongoing The Arkansas Lil' Lady' Backs Inc. AAU basketball club is looking for players in grades 6th through 8th to fill a roster for a summer Junior Backs traveling team. * Ongoing A few spots are needed to be filled for a fifth-grade boys summer basketball team. The team will practice in Mayflower and compete in tournaments across central Arkansas. Anyone interested in more information or trying out for the team should call David Long at 501-581-6142.
* May 17 Tour de Libre, a bicycle fun ride to benefit the Baxter County Library Foundation, is scheduled for Saturday, May 17 in Mountain Home. The event is for all age groups and skill levels. The race begins and ends at the Arkansas State University-Mountain Home campus. There are three ride options: a bi-state metric century of 62 miles, a 30 mile, and a 12 mile (children age 12-and-over can ride the 12 mile option accompanied by an adult). A Kids Tour for all ages will follow the morning races. Participants can register online at www.baxtercountylibrary.org, Online registration is open through May 13, or on-site the day of the event. * June 3-6 and 23-26 University of Central Arkansas basketball camps. The Cub Basketball Camp for boys and girls, ages 5-9, will be June 3-6 (3-6 p.m. on June 3rd and 9 a.m.-noon the other dates). The boys basketball camp, ages 9-18, will be June 23-26, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. All camps held at the UCA HPER Center. * June 8 Arkansas District Optimist Junior Golf Championships qualifying tournament will be held June 8 at the First Tee in Little Rock. The tournament is open to boys and girls ages 10 through 18. Winners will qualify to attend the international championships July 24-29 at the PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. Registration is $40. The camp will focus on individual based instruction as well as group interaction through drills and games. * June 28 Central Baptist College Alumni Association's three-person golf scramble to be held Saturday, June 28, at Mountain Ranch Golf Resort in Fairfield Bay.
