
   
Library honors top 'friends'

Joyce Fiddler and Maria Miller were awarded the Friends of the Faulkner County Libraries top honors recently at the spring Annual Meeting and book sale. Joyce Fiddler was selected as the 2007 Friend of the Year and Maria Miller was selected as the 2007 Volunteer of the Year.
Officers were elected for 2008 at the annual meeting. Officers elected were President, Joyce Fiddler, Vice President, Chris Williams, Secretary, Nita Igolnikova, and Treasurer, Martha Johnson.
In 2007, 318 volunteers donated more than 3,741 hours. Library volunteers make library services available that could not otherwise be available. Friends recognized the groups with the most volunteer hours. They were The Teen Advisory Board with 837 hours and the Volunteer Income Tax Assistant program with 388. The four individuals with the most volunteer hours were Beth Hambuchen, Virginia Alexander, Carolyn Hawes, Joanne Beattie, and Marian Green.
Special recognition you was given to Betty Courtway, Ron and Pat Ross who organized the volunteers who set up and manned the spring book sale. Friends' meetings are open to the public and are held the first Tuesday of each month at the Conway Library at 9:30 a.m.
