HENDRIX TRUSTEES DECIDE TO ADD FOOTBALL
After a 13-month study and debate, Hendrix College's board of trustees has decided to add football to the college's athletic program. Football was discontinued at Hendrix after the 1960 season because of costs. No timetable was set for football to be implemented, but trustees said the sport will only be implemented after start-up costs are raised from external sources. Trustees have also voted to add women's lacrosse with the same stipulation. Further details in Wednesday's editions of the Log Cabin Democrat.

Cats win 6th straight conference track title

The bottom line in conference didn't change during Johnny Kennedy's first season as head boys track coach at Conway High.

The Wampus Cats accumulated 157 points to easily win the 7A-Central meet at Bryant, their sixth conference title in a row. Cabot was second with 101.5, points and Pine Bluff third with 99.

"The kids competed well and we had some real good performances," Kennedy said. "I am so proud of how they have worked all year long. The kids set a goal of winning the conference and their hard work paid off."

Highlighting the CHS effort was a winning 53-7 shot put by Anthony Maltbia, which set a conference record.

Dakota Cornett in the long jump and Jordan Bryant (800) were individual event winners for the Cats. Second-place finishes were turned in by Ryan Kotch (pole vault), Benton Conque (discus), Marcus Pearson (1600 and 3200).
