
   
Sonshine Academy participates in Memphis dance competition

The Sonshine Academy Xtreme Dance Force Stars participated in the International Dance Challenge Regional Dance Competition in Memphis Tenn., on April 19.
The dancers received a Platinum Award for their performance of "Little Bitty Pretty One" and were also given a trophy for "Best Presentation" and named "Jr. Line Challenge Champions" and first runner up to the "Ultimate Challenge Champions," meaning that they they had the highest score in the entire junior division and the second highest score of the entire competition.
For this honor, they were awarded a cash prize of $150.
The groups performance of "Adding to the Noise" was given a Gold Award.
Members of the XDF Stars are: Annabelle Bland, Hannah Blaylock, Marykatherine Deem, Tacara Easterwood, Lauren Ellis, Haley Harmon, Julia Kramer, Emyle Moore, Mollie Moore, Miranda Palmer, Jill Pettit, Ericka Rimmer, Mikaela Roberson, Cameron Roberts, Libby Speck, Alyssa Walter, and Madelyn Wilhite.
Several soloists also competed in Memphis. Hannah Blaylock received a Platinum Award for her tap solo "Chantilly Lace" and was named 2nd runner up "Junior Solo Challenge Champion", meaning she had the 3rd highest scoring solo in the entire junior division.
Maria Kramer was awarded a Gold for her classical ballet solo "Annen Polka", and Haley Harmon was given High Gold for her jazz performance "Business of Love".
Sonshine Academy's dance department and Xtreme Dance Force are under the direction of Michelle Green.
