The woman whose remains were found last month in a wooded area in a Jacksonville industrial park has been identified.
Lt. Matt Rice of the Faulkner County Sheriff's Office said Sandra Givens, 32, was identified through dental records. The White County resident was reported missing by her mother when she disappeared Oct. 6, 2007, Rice said. Givens' next of kin has been notified that a positive identification has been made, Rice said.
George Alan Smith, 33, was arrested and charged with capitol murder after an investigation by the sheriff's office, Jacksonville Police Department and Arkansas State Police led to information allegedly tying him to the remains.
Information from an unnamed informant led police to the crime scene off Cory Drive. Investigators also recovered the murder weapons used on the victim based on the informant's tips at a separate location from where the body was found.
Faulkner County Sheriff Karl Byrd said last month items found at the crime scene and the remains themselves matched "a very vivid description" given by the informant.
