Bro. Mark brought an inspiring message to the flock at Oakland last Sunday morning. It touched our hearts.
Then several of us from Oakland Methodist Church were able to join those at Holland Baptist Church for a time of singing, preaching, eating and fellowship on Sunday night.
Bro. Ron Theis preached in spite of the pain he felt due to the surgical removal of a tooth last Wednesday, which resulted in the invasion of his sinus cavity. He was not able to sing, and we missed that. Bro. David Smith led the congregational hymns and did a great job.
Kathy Pearce said they missed the specials from our church this year. Earnestine Newberry couldn't be with us, and Mary Powell had surgery last week and didn't get to sing. Maybe next year all will be well.
Four were baptized at the beginning of worship Sunday morning at Holland Baptist Church. Kendall Upton, Daniel and Natalie Van Horn and Kellie Holms followed the Lord in baptism. We praise God for the decisions. Last week it was reported that the Jared Upton family joined the church, but the name was spelled incorrectly.
Bro. Tim Logan did an awesome job leading the praise and worship service Sunday morning. He and his family are very much appreciated by the church. They are faithful servants.
Ronald Pearce enjoyed a trip to South Dakota to pheasant hunt last week. He hunted with his cousin from Kansas City, Mo., Jerry Pearce, Jerry's son, James, and eight others. They had a successful hunt.
Rosa Lee and Robert McElroy and her son, Dale Collins, recently attended the funeral of her brother-in-law, Calvin Shaw in Benton. Rosa and Robert and her granddaughters, Kara and Tara Collins attended a family reunion in Beebe at the home of a cousin, Moose Brewer.
Maureen Fiddler of Heber Springs visited her mother, Lucille Purifoy, at Greenbrier Nursing and Rehab last Thursday. Lucille was also visited by Bobi Hendrickson. Her daughter Kathy Pearce brought her to the community Thanksgiving service and meal at Holland Baptist Church on Sunday night. She enjoyed seeing people she hadn't seen in a while. She got to visit with her cousin, Mildred Land. Mildred is 93 years old, and Lucille is 91.
We wish to extend sympathy to the family of Jenny Smith. Jenny's mother, Jean Metcalf, and I were in Bible study class together some years ago.
We trust everyone has a good Thanksgiving and thank God for our many blessings. Not everyone is as fortunate as some.
