Dr. Debra Lawrence and Dr. Amy Johnson serve as Medical Directors for Cosmetic Laser Solutions. Dr. Lawrence's residency was in OB/GYN at the University of Tennessee at Memphis. She received her medical degree from the University of Oklahoma Health Services Center in Oklahoma City. Dr. Johnson received her medical degree from Louisiana State Health Science Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. Both are Diplomats with the American Board of OB/GYN.
We had the opportunity to ask Cosmetic Laser Solutions about their practice and a few of their services and learned the following:
Q Describe how your clinic offers personalized service.
A We individualize clients' services based on their initial consult with regard to the concerns they address; from there, we develop a plan to meet those needs while giving them options to stay within their budget.
Q How does laser hair removal work and how often must patients be treated before seeing final results
A Laser hair removal is "permanent hair reduction". The research on our lasers reports up to 80% hair reduction after six treatments. There may be 4-12 weeks between treatments depending on the area of the body being treated. Most patients report a difference in coarseness or less hair return after 3-4 treatments.
Q Describe the services you offer for leg and/or facial vein removal.
A We offer laser services for spider veins, not sclerotherapy or injections.
Q On which different areas of the body can you perform laser hair removal?
A Any area that has hair with color. Laser physiology works on the color spectrum, so as long as the hair has pigment or color like brown, red, or black, it can be treated. Blonde and gray hairs are not picked up by the laser
Q Describe your laser system and its capabilities.
A Cosmetic Laser Solutions offers laser services using the Candela Gentle Yag and Smooth Peel Lasers. The Gentle Yag is the single most versatile wavelength that can treat all skin types and provides very effective results. The skin is protected because of the unique, patented cooling system known as the dynamic cooling device, or DCD. This spray of cryogen brings the skin temperature down to a cool temperature for a split second while the laser light immediately follows and passes through the skin. This selectivity helps to protect the skin while effectively treating the target. Together, the long-pulse laser and DCD cooling offer optimal treatment with minimal side effects.
Q Is laser treatment typically painful?
A Lasers are very tolerable. Some patients describe the discomfort as a "rubber band pop". This discomfort resolves in several seconds and is minimized by Candela's DCD cooling. For some clients, a topical anesthetic may be used prior to treatment.
Q How many treatments do most patients require?
A The number of sessions depends on the treatment you require and the condition of your skin. For hair removal, multiple treatments are required, as the process is most effective when the hair follicle is in its active growth phase. Many factors impact the efficacy of individual laser treatments, including the severity of the condition being treated.
