Conway police are asking for help identifying a suspect accused of cashing thousands of dollars in checks at several central Arkansas banks after stealing a purse at a daycare center.

Police responded to the Kidz University Daycare, at 2130 Spring Valley Drive, on Oct. 7 around 7:36 a.m. and made contact with a 31-year-old Conway woman who said her purse was stolen from her vehicle.

The victim said she went inside the daycare with her children around 7:29 a.m., leaving her vehicle unlocked with her purse inside, covered by one of her son’s blankets. When the victim returned, approximately four minutes later, she found the blanket moved from its original spot and her purse missing.

The victim said the purse, identified as a Louis Vuitton, contained two phones, a handgun with a concealed carry permit, and several debit and credit cards.

Police reviewed video surveillance and observed a maroon Cadillac SUV pull into the drive, and leave shortly afterward.

Since the theft, police say checks from the victim’s bank account have been cashed at various banks in Conway, Benton, Bryant, Little Rock and Hot Springs. Investigators have not been able to name a suspect, but have obtained photos of an alleged suspect from bank surveillance footage.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Conway Police Department at (501) 450-6120, or text a tip to CRIMES using keyword Conway in the body of the text.
