A Little Rock man was able to drive away after his vehicle was struck Thursday evening at the intersection of Skyline Drive and Lower Ridge Road.
Algimantas Staskevicius of Little Rock was attempting to turn north from Skyline Drive to Lower Ridge Road when his vehicle, a tan Buick Century, was struck by the driver of a blue four-door Mitsubishi truck with black trim. The driver was attempting to turn west onto Skyline when the collision occurred. After the collision, the driver of the truck fled the scene.
According to Jordan Lea of Vilonia, who was a witness to the accident, after Staskevicius’ vehicle slid, the driver of the Mitsubishi turned and traveled west toward Conway. Lea described the Mitsubishi truck as being blue "that may have faded to black." Lea said the back of the vehicle was black and that the vehicle had chrome.
Staskevicius said he did not get a good look at the vehicle because he was turning down onto Lower Ridge Road, but he did know it was a truck.
The drivers side doors of Staskevicius’ vehicle were damaged as was the windshield, however, he was able to drive the vehicle to Little Rock.
The officer on the scene said the vehicle was last seen traveling westbound on Skyline, but that officers did know the identity of the owner of the vehicle’s license plate and that the vehicle did match the vehicle listed on the plates, a Mitsubishi Raider.
The same location was the site of another hit and run accident Sunday afternoon when a 16-year-old boy was injured when his motorcycle was struck by one vehicle throwing the teen into the road. The teen was then struck by another southbound vehicle. The driver of this vehicle did not stop.
