A seat on the Conway School’s Board of Education will be filled by the winner in a runoff election between Andre’ D. Acklin and Ron Hill. The seat, Zone at Large, Position 1, was vacated by Carolyn Lewis.
Hill, little league coach of 41 years, spouse of a Conway Schools educator and grandfather to children in the district, received 1623 votes.
Acklin, 1986 graduate of Conway High School, vice president and general manager of Larry G. Acklin Funeral Home and father to children in the district, received 1608.
Candidate Billy Thomas received 735 votes.
Acklin and Hill will appear on an Oct. 12 ballot, and early voting for the runoff election will take place Oct. 5-8.
Early voters will attend polls at the same location as school election’s early voting, at Faulkner Square off of Main Street in downtown Conway. Election day voters will attend polls at one of the two Conway sports complexes.
Greenbrier voters elected Greg Oaks as Greenbrier Board of Directors Position 2, 312 to 234 over Daryl L. Davis.
Mayflower school elections revealed an upset, with Terry Turner, write-in candidate winning over incumbent Steven Runge, 314 to 132.
