United Way of Central Arkansas is slated to host its Annual Campaign Kick-off today in Simon Park in downtown Conway.

Each year, UWCA hosts an event to officially kick off the annual campaign, though the event changes from year to year. UWCA decided to hold a community kickoff this year to continue with the message that United Way is a community organization.

"All year we have been working with the community on various projects and forging new partnerships while finding new ways to serve the existing ones," said Jennifer Bickers, resource development director for UWCA. "We are hoping a community kick-off will help us keep the momentum going into the campaign season. Week of Action was such a great opportunity for United Way of Central Arkansas thanks to the tremendous community support, and we want to continue down that path of helping community members get involved by giving, advocating and volunteering."

The event is a free event and open to the public. There will be activities for children and opportunities for individuals to network with others and learn more about the needs and services available in Faulkner and Perry counties, including how to get involved in volunteering.

The kickoff will begin at 6:30 p.m. and last until approximately 8. United Way will also be showing its new campaign video featuring local individuals who share their stories of how UWCA and its partner programs have made an impact on their lives.
