Andrew Bourgoin, son of Michael and Donna Bourgoin of Conway, will participate in the 2010 St. Olaf College Christmas Festival, one of the nation’s longest-running celebrations of the season.
Bourgoin, a member of the St. Olaf Choir, will appear in four performances Thursday-Sunday. More than 12,000 people attend the annual performances.
The festival, which first took place in 1912, is a two-hour program of hymns, carols, choral works and orchestral selections that celebrate the birth of Christ. This year’s concert, "A Child, a Son, the Prince of Peace," includes more than 500 student musicians in five choirs and the St. Olaf Orchestra under the leadership of artistic director Anton Armstrong.
Minnesota Public Radio will present a live broadcast of the 2010 St. Olaf Christmas Festival at 3:30 p.m. Sunday. The broadcast can be heard on most regional classical music stations and will be streamed live online at minnesota.publicradio.org (where previous festival streams also are archived). There will be an encore broadcast of the concert at 7 p.m. Dec. 23.
Bourgoin, who will be a 2012 graduate, plays the Bass II. He is a student at Conway Senior High School.
