Hewlett-Packard is hosting the HP Developers/Business Analysts Career Fair today at the Conway Chamber of Commerce to start hiring some of the recently announced 200 new positions being added to the HP facility in Conway.

Dec. 18, six months after 500 employees were laid off at the Conway Customer Contact Center, HP announced plans to establish an "Industry Development Center" that would add approximately 200 jobs in 2014.

The "Industry Development Center" is a centralized group of highly skilled HP staff that builds, enhances and implements HP’s healthcare industry solutions for many commercial and state clients.

When the jobs were first announced, John Herzog, Hewlett-Packard account executive, said "these new employees will fill important technical roles in software engineering, business analysis and management in support of HP’s growing government and commercial healthcare business across the United States."

According to an HP representative, the job fair is being targeted toward developers and business analyst in the Little Rock and Conway community.

The event flyer lists software developers, business analysts and software development managers as "now hiring."

Jamie Gates, senior vice president of the Conway Area Chamber of Commerce and Conway Development Corporation, said these jobs would add new skill sets to the Conway economy and local HP site.

Another flyer advertises opportunities. "We’re growing our technical teams in Health & Life Sciences, and have opportunities in several areas," the flyer says. Such areas include: data integration, data migrations/conversions, mainframe development and support and application production support among others.

HP does expect to host more career fairs in Arkansas as this is a yearlong recruiting effort, a representative with HP said.

The career fair will be held today and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Conway Chamber of Commerce at 900 Oak St. For a full listing of jobs and job descriptions visit www.hp.com/jobs.
