The City of Hope Outreach, founded in the Oakwood Trailer Park off East Robins Street in Conway, was burglarized late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning, according to a CPD incident report released this morning.

City of Hope is a non-profit ministry founded by Phillip Fletcher and his family to serve "the poor, single-parent homes and veterans," according to information on its website, Someone smashed the front door’s window and stole a water jug that had been used to collect change and loose bills — about $500 worth, according to the report. Everything else in the building seemed to be in order except the front door, which will be about $300 to replace.

City of Hope provides transitional housing, seminars on community involvement directed at local churches and those who serve the poor and homeless, year-round lessons to improve child literacy and internet access to promote learning and help people find jobs — all in the Oakwood neighborhood. The organization also does work in the Brookside neighborhood, among other places in Conway.
