The University of Central Arkansas plans the UCA Volunteer Fair from noon to 3 p.m. on Election Day at the Student Center Ballroom.

Faculty, staff, students and the general public are invited to attend the free event.

The event is an opportunity for people to meet with nonprofit organizations to sign up for volunteer work in the Central Arkansas.

The theme of the event is I.V.O.T.E.D., or "I Volunteered on This Election Day."

The fair is planned and managed by the Event Planning class in the Department of Communication. The class has planned games, prizes and activities to promote the fair and has encouraged participation with a goal of 800 volunteers donating 5,000 hours of their time.

Some of the 25 nonprofit groups that will be represented at the fair include the Little Rock Zoo, Arkansas Foodbank, THEA Foundation, Bethlehem House, Easter Seals and Habitat for Humanity.

The fair will allow people to help others explore their options for volunteering in the community, according to a news release.
