The University of Central Arkansas Public Appearances season will continue with a lecture by Lisa Ling, a former co-host of The View and a contributor to ABC News’ Nightline, at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 25, in the Donald W. Reynolds Performance Hall.

"Lisa will focus on her professional career as a journalist and author," Director of Public Appearances Amanda Horton said. "She will discuss how she got started in journalism, highlights and lowlights of her career and important issues she has covered. She will also cover her sister’s captivity in North Korea and how she fought to bring her home."

The lecture and question and answer session will last 90 minutes.

Ling is executive producer and host of Our America on the Oprah Winfrey Network, a former field correspondent for The Oprah Winfrey Show and a contributor to National Geographic’s Explorer. At 21, she covered the civil war in Afghanistan and later became a co-host of ABC’s The View, which won its first daytime Emmy during her tenure.

She was a special correspondent for CNN’s Planet in Peril series and is a contributing editor for USA Today’s USA Weekend magazine. She is the co-author of Somewhere Inside: One Sister’s Captivity in North Korea and the Other’s Fight to Bring Her Home, which she wrote with her sister, Laura Ling.

"The audience will have the opportunity to hear an amazing, award-winning journalist speak about her professional experiences," Horton said. "Her content will be emotionally moving as well as educational as she explores her experiences in the mass media field. She has researched and reported on national and international stories including 9/11, civil war in Afghanistan, gang rapes in Congo, bride burning in India and other important issues."

Tickets for the Ling lecture are available at the UCA Ticket Central Box Office, are $15 for adults, $5 for students and children, $5 for UCA faculty and staff, and free for UCA students with a current student ID (limit of two tickets).
