Farm Bureau

State Board member Matt Simon of Conway was among the 73 Farm Bureau leaders participating in the State Resolutions Committee meeting Nov. 10 at the Wyndham Riverfront Hotel in North Little Rock.  The committee refined and consolidated policy proposals into a set of formal recommendations to be considered by voting delegates during the business session of the Arkansas Farm Bureau State Convention, Dec. 1-3 in Hot Springs. Arkansas Farm Bureau is a nonprofit, private advocacy organization of more than 219,000 Arkansas families throughout the state working to improve farm and rural life.


Conway Regional
Medical Center

Suzanne Harris, 39, of Conway has been promoted to the position of Clinical Director for Oncology and Wound services at Conway Regional Medical Center.

Harris, a registered nurse, has worked in oncology for the past five years including three years as clinical coordinator for the program. She has also worked as a high school educator and a nursing instructor at the University of Central Arkansas.

 As nursing director, she is responsible for Conway Regional’s oncology service line, which includes inpatient hospital cancer care, the Cancer Hematology Outpatient Unit, cancer outreach program, the tumor registry as well as inpatient wound services. She oversees the work of 34 employees. 

Caren Lewis, Conway Regional’s Chief Nursing Officer, said of Harris, “We are thrilled to have a professional of Suzanne’s character and clinical expertise in this position. She has a strong track record of a true commitment to patient safety and quality that we expect for our patients and her success in her former role gives her credibility on how well she balances her high expectations for patient care at Conway Regional, her advocacy for her staff and her dedication to the health of our community in everything she does.”

Harris said, “This will give me an opportunity to learn more and to give more back to Conway Regional and to this community.” 

 She holds a bachelor of science in nursing from UCA, as well as a bachelor’s degree in English from Ouachita Baptist University and a master’s degree in media technology from UCA. She also wants to pursue a PhD in nursing.

 Harris is married with one child. She is a native of Heber Springs.

 Conway Regional’s cancer program has been certified by the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons since 2000. It is the only community hospital cancer program in Faulkner or Pulaski County to be approved by the ACS Commission on Cancer.

Born and raised in Faulkner County, she is married with four children and is a member of the Arkansas Army National Guard, National Association of Realtors, Arkansas Realtor’s Association, and the Faulkner County Board of Realtors. Taylor, of Rick Taylor Enterprises, Inc. in Conway,  recently attended the Arkansas Society of Certified Public Accountants (ASCPA) Thirtieth Annual Industry, Commerce and Banking Conference, held Oct. 21-22, at the ASCPA Conference Center in Little Rock. All are members of the Arkansas Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Several ASCPA members were among the speakers for the conference. These were: Andrea M. Corley, of Hudson Cisne & Company, LLP, in Little Rock; J. Ann Dorsey, of End to End Business Solutions, Inc., in Little Rock; Charlott A. Jones, Jones & Company, Ltd., in Jonesboro; Letitia Sue Talkington, of Beall Barclay & Company, PLC, in Fort Smith; John R. Taylor, of Sterne, Agee, & Leach, Inc., in Fort Smith, and Jacob Wells, of JPMS Cox, PLLC in Little Rock. 

The two-day event, sponsored by the Arkansas Society of Certified Public Accountants, offered the 82 participants the opportunity to earn 16 hours of Continuing Professional Education credits, and presented attendees with the latest information on current issues, relevant to accounting in industry, commerce and banking.

 The ASCPA is the state’s largest professional organization for Certified Public Accountants with over 2,900 members and over 90 years of service to the accounting profession.
