The Faulkner County Library will present an art reception and exhibition of Summer Reading Program artwork on Wednesday. 

The opening reception will take place from 6 to 6:45 p.m. 

The awards assembly for The Fundamentals of Charcoal Drawing Class will take place at 6:15 p.m. 

Refreshments will be served at the reception.

The Fundamentals of Charcoal drawing class covered the fundamentals of the charcoal media with projects associated with still life, self-portraits and drawing animals. 

The student also received lessons in art history, the elements and principles of art and much more. 

The students also participated in group art critiques and have prepared artists statements for the exhibition.

The drawing class included ages 8-12. Instructor for the class was Sarah Mattingly. 

The class met once a week during the summer and was free to students in the community. 

Materials were provided by the library. 

The class culminated with a celebratory pizza party.

Pizza was donated by U.S. Pizza Company. 

The exhibition of work will remain on view at the  library until Sept. 1.
