The Greenbrier Senior Citizen Center will be calling the Hogs and hoping for a victory Sept. 19. Marie Laymon, activities director at the center, said a watch party is set for 5:30 p.m. to see the Arkansas Razorbacks take on the Georgia Bulldogs.
"We are hoping to see 60-80 people here in Hog attire," she said.
The game will be broadcast on ESPN and can be viewed on the center’s large screen television. The event is part of the monthlong celebration of National Senior Citizen Center month.
"I hope we win. We can have a good time calling the Hogs," Laymon said.
This will be the first time for the center to host such an event. Because the many of the seniors who attend the center are sports fans, Laymon said the seniors are sometimes transported to Greenbrier Panther sports activities.
"This is what my seniors like. They are supportive of the Greenbrier Panthers and the Razorbacks. They like to go to sporting events," Laymon said.
A particular favorite is the game between in-county rivals Greenbrier and Vilonia. The group has not traveled to a Razorback game yet.
Hot dogs and brownies will be served.
Greenbrier High School’s EAST lab will help with the set-up, publicity, serving and clean-up. The event is open to the public.
