The Central Arkansas Children’s Choir began rehearsals Sept. 14, but students in grades 4-8 who enjoy singing and want to participate in a challenging but fun choral experience are still encouraged to audition.

According to Jann Bryant, director of the UCA Community School of Music, the last auditions for the semester will be held Monday.  No previous experience is necessary, and a prepared song is not required.  Students will be asked to match pitch, demonstrate how high and low they can sing and perform a familiar tune, such as "Row, Row, Row your Boat" during the 5-10 minute audition. Cont act the UCA Community School of Music office at 450-5755 or 450-3672, or e-mail Bryant at to schedule an audition time prior to or following rehearsal Monday or for additional information regarding registration and tuition.

The choirs rehearse in UCA’s Snow Fine Arts Center from 6-7:30 p.m. each Monday of the school calendar.

Performances scheduled for the fall include ArtsFest, a Christmas concert Dec. 14 at UCA and Holiday Pops and Jingle Bell with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra Dec. 18-19.  The CACC is directed by Dr. Ryan Fisher, assistant professor of Choral Music Education at UCA, and Peggy McDaniel, music specialist at Bale Elementary in Little Rock.
