The Conway Tree Board will sponsor the annual Arbor Day celebration at 10 a.m. Nov. 7 in Laurel Park.

The family friendly event will begin with a short program featuring a proclamation by Mayor Tab Townsell, awards presented to the Arbor Day Young Artist winners and dramatic and musical entertainment by local students. A new program to search for Conway’s "Champion Trees" will be announced.

Following the program, attendees will be able to "adopt" a tree to take home for planting. Custom Landscape and Nursery in Mount Vernon will provide 50 trees for the adoption program.

FFA classes at Conway High School have been growing additional trees for Arbor Day. There will also be a tree planting demonstration by The Plant Outlet as staff will show proper planting techniques with a large tree they are donating in honor of Arbor Day.

Various activities and favorite attractions will be available around the park, including inflated bounce houses, an art display of tree-related works by elementary students, craft activities, kid tattoos, balloons, free hot dogs, displays, demonstrations and more.

One very special addition will be the uniquely evocative tones of the Central Arkansas Celtic Musicians, who will be playing in the park. In case of rain, the event will move to the "old gym" at Conway High School – East Campus on Prince Street.
