How did you like the snow? The children enjoyed being out of school a couple of days. The weather was hard on older people’s ailments. I’ve missed church the last two Sundays for health reasons and don’t have much news.

Diane England of Hanover, Mich., daughter of Ruby McGaha, formerly of Holland, visited Lowell Grisham last Tuesday.

Mrs. Hermie (Parsons) Lewis (who was raised here in Holland) was buried in Oakland Cemetery last Thursday. They had to have the funeral in the Fellowship Hall at Oakland Church because the electricity was off. It was off all day long all over this area. The church has electric heat and the fellowship hall has gas. They didn’t have lights, but the outside light seemed adequate.

Mrs. Hermie joined her beloved husband, Bro. Charles W. Lewis, in Heaven. The family has our sympathy.

Weldon Stevenson of Flippin (formerly of Holland) is out of the hospital now and in rehab at Flippin. It makes it easier for the family to have him closer to home.

Mrs. Corene (James) Hoggard of Sanoma, Calif., (raised here in Holland) passed away and was buried there last week. Her husband, Eldon Hoggard, (raised near Enola) preceded her in death. She was a daughter of John W. and Jeffie (Shaw) James, and a first cousin of Ray’s.

Our daughter, Sherry and husband John Sellers, celebrated 40 years of marriage Sunday, Jan. 16. They were honored by family and friends.

Please send me your news. Have a good week, and remember God is still in control.

As I am writing this, snow is expected tomorrow. I hope it comes and goes real fast. Stay warm and keep out of the ditches.

Happy belated birthday, Amanda Dowdy Hooten. We wish you many more blessings and many more birthdays. I love you.

Tracy Dowdy had a birthday and also got a promotion with the company he is with. Way to go, Tracy.

Last weekend, Mom’s visitors were Carolyn, Britten and Brianna Hays  Brianna came and spent Friday night with all of them and then went home to UCA on Saturday. We all went shopping along with Mom and on the way home picked up Landon and he spent the night with his Nana. We all had a great weekend. We all enjoy those precious times we spend with our Mom Especially when she is feeling good.

Happy birthday to Danny Thorn and Gary Griffith. They both will be celebrating a birthday in the next couple of weeks. Call them and wish them well. Holly Goodwin will be having a birthday soon too. I would like to wish everyone a happy birthday and many more.

News is short. I need some help from the community. I can’t say anything if I don’t hear from you what is going on in the schools, churches homes, families, so please help me out.

Don’t forget the Polar Plunge for Area 17 Special Olympics on Feb. 17 at Beaverfork Lake. We will have a dessert auction so come out and bring desserts and bid on some great home made goodies. I am challenging all law enforcement in Faulkner County to come and pledge. Pope County Sheriff’s department is coming and we need to stand out. So Vilonia Mayflower, Greenbrier, Conway, Guy, Holland and Faulkner County Sheriff’s officers, take the plunge.

There will be prizes for everyone that plunge with a $50 donation, and the more you pledge, the bigger the prizes. ILS has held the most funds raised the last two years. They have the Plunger Trophy and are fighting to keep it again this year. So come on, brave souls. Help your Special Olympic Athletes out so that we can make our area the best in the state.
