Faulkner County Coroner Patrick Moore said the body of Mark Russell, missing in the Arkansas River since Tuesday, was found by his brothers Sunday afternoon.
According to District Chief Bill Keithley of the Conway Fire Department, Russell was found about mid-day Sunday on the Faulkner County side of the river, at the arrival point for barges, between Cadron Settlement Park and the Lock and Dam.
"He was positively identified," Moore said, "and I have ordered an autopsy."
Keith Stephens, of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, said Russell was not wearing a life jacket.
Russell, 43, was reported missing Wednesday by family members who found his Jeep and boat trailer at the Cadron Settlement Park. Family members say Russell went fishing Tuesday afternoon, but never returned home.
Wildlife officials recovered Russell’s boat near the Toad Suck dam on Wednesday afternoon, but until today, there had been no sign of Russell.
The initial investigation from Arkansas Game and Fish Commission officials suggested that Russell’s boat hit a jetty or log while at full speed, around 28 to 30 mph, which ejected Russell from the boat.
