Metova Inc., one of three technology companies that announced investments in downtown Conway at the start of this year, is adding jobs.
The company announced Thursday that it is increasing its local workforce by 100 employees, bringing its total number of employees to 160.
Demands of the "rapidly growing mobile, web and IoT (Internet of Things) space" are cited in a news release as reasons behind Thursday's jobs announcement.
Sixty jobs were announced initially as part of a $2.1 million investment up front in January.
Metova's announcement nearly triples its initial projection, according to the company.
John Adams, CEO of Metova, said in the news release that business is "thriving."
"We are looking for developers who are excellent problem solvers with superior communication skills to work in our unique culture while enjoying the quality of life Conway offers," he said.
Sought are developers with strengths in Ruby on Rails, Java web and mobile app development, as well as UX and UI designers.
The jobs are part of Metova's growing brand of providing strategy, design, development and marketing for well-known companies such as Microsoft, Yelp, Dropbox, Flixster and eHarmony.
Gov. Asa Hutchinson announced the company's entrance into the Conway market in January as part of his second economic development announcement as governor.
He called news of more Metova jobs "a testament to the importance of our new computer coding initiative in Arkansas schools."
"When we nurture technology companies like Metova, they create job opportunities that keep [Arkansas'] brightest minds in the state," he said in the news release. "Conway has developed a reputation as a hub for knowledge-based companies and that reputation continues to grow as a result of today's announcement."
In addition to the news of more jobs, Metova announced that Ed Horton, former chief marketing officer and senior vice president of business at Acxiom and Vestcom, will join the company. His exact title was not announced in the news release.
Metova was founded in 2006 in Franklin, Tennessee. Since its inception, the company has grown to have offices in Arkansas, Washington, D.C., Georgia and Washington.
The 3,700-square-foot Conway office is in the second floor of the Halter Building on Oak Street. A second Arkansas office is in Cabot.
