The Conway Writers’ Group will contribute to the 2016 Arts Fest X theme of Conway Marks the Spot on Tuesday, Sept. 27, at the Faulkner County Library.
The group will provide a program of prose and poetry, history and mystery, geneology, humor and sports.
Creative writer, Mike Abernathy will serve as Emcee for the program. Paula Abernathy will open the evening with a poem demonstrating the creative path for dreamland to scribbled thoughts at 3:00 A. M. to polished poetry.
Working titles include "They’re My roots", by Libby Talley; "A Tribute to Skeeter Kell – A Preview", by Bob Reising; and "Conway 72032", by Jean Leffler.
Bryan Williams will read from the novel he is currently writing, REDEMPTION’S LONG MILE.
Kathy Kordsmeier will present "The Spire of St. Joseph"; Joyce Holder will bring some family history to light with her story, "Uncle John and Aunt Morg"; and Joyce Rossi will read her story titled "Miracle Baby."
Harvey Melton will eulogize a special Conway citizen in "Old Black Man, Little White Dog."
Tops Open House
Tops AR #541 will sponsor an open house Tuesday Sept. 20. Take Off Pounds Sensibly, is a non-profit weight loss organization, offering inspiration and motivation.
The open house is at Peach Lutheran Church at Donaghey and Dave Ward Drive. Weigh-in is at 9:30 a.m.
Featured speaker will be Nick Hurley, third-degree black belt, and owner of Arkansas Martial Arts in Conway. He will speak on personal safety.
