In March, under the leadership of Pastor Randy Hester, Olive Hill Missionary Baptist Church of Mabelvale voted to sponsor a new church in the city of Conway.  Much prayer and preparation preceded this action and the direction of God was evident throughout the process.

Olive Hill, at the recommendation of the mission, called Bro. Kelvin Richardson to serve as their missionary pastor.

The church began meeting in the banquet room of a local hotel and did so for a few weeks until the providence of God made available a more permanent solution.  In 2003 Central Baptist Church of Conway relocated and Conway Public Schools purchased their facility to use as an annex building.

The first of this year they began to see their need for this property diminishing and initiated the procedure to sell the church.  God used one of the members of the church to connect the two groups and a lease/purchase agreement was entered into on June 1.

The property, located at the corner of Lee and Watkins, is estimated at $2.5 million and  includes a 28,000-square-foot building, which consists of a 400-seat sanctuary, 300-seat fellowship hall, 28 classrooms, office complex, 10 restrooms, choir room and a 148 space asphalt parking lot.

The task of selecting a name for the new church began.  The group wanted to honor their sponsoring church (Olive Hill MBC) and some of the members were former members of Olive Branch MBC in Pine Bluff. So, after several months, much prayer and a selection process, the name Olive Branch Missionary Baptist Church was chosen.

This new work of faith is now undertaking the raising of the down payment over the course of the next 18 months, at which time the purchase option of the agreement with the school will be transacted.

Olive Branch would like to extend an invitation to the community to join us for any and all services and activities.  Regular services are: Sunday school – 10 a.m., Sunday worship – 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m.  Also, a teen ministry meets on Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m. and a collegiate ministry will begin shortly.
