James Barney Boyett

James Barney Boyett, 75, formerly of Conway, died Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009, in San Antonio, Texas.

He was born in Hope on Dec. 18, 1933, and moved to Conway when he was 12 years old. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1953-1957 and was stationed in San Antonio and at Bushy Park, London, England. He graduated from Arkansas State Teachers College in 1960.

His career with the U.S. Secret Service spanned over 20 years. 

He traveled the world with several presidents and seven vice presidents. In 1979, he was named Special Agent-in-Charge of the San Antonio Field Office, a position he held until his retirement in 1983.

He is survived by his wife, Joann Worthing Boyett; son, Brock Boyett and wife Lisa; daughter, Christy Leigh Boyett; grandchildren, Austyn Leigh Windle and Matt, Meagan Ann Boyett and Travis Boyett; sisters, Johnnie Hanks and Dorothy Robertson; sisters-in-law, Mary Souter, Carolyn Bertetti and Tom; and many nieces, nephews and friends. 

Funeral service was Wednesday with burial in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at San Antonio with Porter Loring Mortuary North Funeral Home in charge.
