SEARCY — Harding University defeated Central Baptist College 96-75 Saturday night in men’s college basketball action.

Trailing 44-35 at halftime, the Mustangs (8-4) opened the second half slow and fell behind by as much as 16. However, CBC later went on a 9-0 run to cut the Bison lead to 58-51.

Harding (6-2), though, proved to be too much and extended its lead to as much as 28. The Mustangs weren’t able to get any closer than 17 after that point.

"We didn’t play very well offensively tonight. We would make stops on the defensive end and would go cold on the offensive side," CBC coach Josh Austin said. "This was a great test for us. Harding is a great team. We saw where we need to get better."

Senior CJ McCoy led the Mustangs with a double-double performance of 17 points and 10 rebounds. Seniors Ryan Barnes and Rodderick Briggs had 17 and 13 points, respectively, while juniors Will Johnson and Michael Holder had 12 and 11.

CBC returns to action today hosting Arlington Baptist. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
