The Central Baptist College softball team continued its unbeaten start with a  doubleheader sweep of of Christian Brothers University, 6-5 and 5-0, Tuesday at City of Colleges Park.

In the first game, CBC trailed 2-0 going into the bottom of the fourth inning until Hailey King led off with a  home run.  CBC would go on to score three more runs in the  inning with a two-run single by Sam Baker. Christen Kirchner also drove in Brandi McChristian to  make the score 4-2.  CBC added two runs in the bottom of the fifth on a two-run double by Kirchner, who was 3 for 3 with three RBI, Baker added two RBI, and King was 2 for 4 with an RBI. 

Jessica Bock improved to 2-0 on the season by pitching 7 innings, allowing 8 hits and 5 runs (three earned  runs), and she struck out 13 CBU batters. 

In game 2, senior Casey Hammons dominated the CBU hitters by only allowing one hit and striking out 12. Shannon Pickard scored on an RBI single by Baker in the second.  Pickard scored again in the  fourth inning after a double by Carly McLennan.  CBC added three more runs in the fifth with RBIs by 

Pickard and McLennan.  Pickard and McLennan were both 2 for 2. 

CBC travels this weekend to the Lyon College Invitational with games on Friday and Saturday in Batesville.
