Roy "Buck" Martin Jr., 85, of Dardanelle died Monday, Feb. 22, 2010 at River Valley Medical Center. He was born Oct. 22, 1924 in Dardanelle to the late Roy Martin Sr. and Cecil Davenport. He retired after 35-plus years as head stock clerk at Kroger and was a volunteer fireman for more than 29 years, serving at Adams Field in Little Rock in World War II and the Dardanelle Fire Department, where he retired as fire chief.
He was on the Dardanelle City Council, volunteered for Sharing and Caring and was member of the First Baptist Church of Dardanelle.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Gwen Martin of Dardanelle; three daughters, Gwenda Martin of North Little Rock, Patti Phillips of Winnsboro, Texas, Ginger Robinson of Conway; two brothers, Jim Martin of Dardanelle, Frank Martin of Little Rock; sister, Dorothy Grace of Dardanelle.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Cornwell Funeral Home chapel in Dardanelle.
