Faulkner County authorities are investigating the death of a Greenbrier man.
According to Lt. Matt Rice of the Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office, investigators were called at 2:19 a.m. on Saturday to 24 Oak Hill Lane, where John Pruitt, who turned 33 on Saturday, was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head.
"We don’t know what happened at this point," Rice said. "We’re just trying to put all the evidence together from the scene and continue to get statements from witnesses and come to some sort of conclusion."
Rice said that Pruitt’s wife and one of his friends were in the home when the shot was fired, but neither claimed to have seen the incident. Rice also said that Pruitt and his friend had returned from the Conway Supper Club at about 1 a.m. on Saturday. Maj. Andy Shock of FCSO said that investigators were told by those at the scene that Pruitt had been carelessly handling a handgun around the time of the incident.
Pruitt’s body will be examined at the State Crime Lab.
