SHERWOOD — Runs weren’t a problem in Thursday night’s softball game between Conway and Mount St. Mary.
Fortunately for the Lady Cats, they had the most runs.
After a quick start, Conway had to play catchup before winning its 7A-Central Conference opener. The Lady Cats (2-6, 1-0) led 11-3 after four innings, but the Belles plated eight runs in the fifth to tie the score. Conway scored two more in the top of the sixth to take the lead, but Mount St. Mary put three more in the bottom of the frame to take a 14-13 lead.
But the Lady Cats’ offense wasn’t done. A four-run seventh lifted Conway to the win.
Freshman Taylor Kuhn led the charge with a 3-for-5 performance and drove in four RBI. Morgan Setzler finished 2-for-3 and drove in two runs and scored twice. Jordan Yandell finished 2-for-5 with an RBI and scored three runs.
The Lady Cats will return to action March 30 at Cabot.
