SEARCY — Conway Christian didn’t waste any time in trying to make their mark in conference play.

The Eagles exploded for 27 runs and held White County Central scoreless in a 27-0 thumping in baseball action. The game was called after five innings due to the run rule.

Ezra Wiley highlight the offensive barrage with a 3-for-5 performance at the plate that included a grand slam, his third home run of the season. He also drove in eight runs and scored three times.

Not to be outdone, Kirby Powell was 3-for-5 with a pair of homers, and he drove in five runs and scored five times. Jake Fitts was 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI, while Andrew Dather drove in a run and scored once after going 2-for-3.

Jackson Hogue struck out four in three innings of work on the mound, while Dather had two K’s in two innings of work.

Conway Christian will play at Mayflower on April 6.


QUITMAN — The St. Joseph baseball team pounded out 11 hits and scored a combined 12 runs in the third and fourth innings en route to a 16-1 win over Quitman on Monday in their conference opener.

Marcus Kordsmeier finished 2-for-4 with a grand slam and triple and four RBI to lead the way for the Bulldogs (4-2, 1-0). Wade Beck and Matt Lowe were both also 2-for-4 with a double each. Cole Breeding was 2-for-2 with four RBI, while Chris Rega and Austin Harrell doubled on a 1-for-2 day. Cash Schicthl was also 1-for-2 and drove in two runs.

Lowe struck out seven and allowed just two hits in four innings on the mound. Beck struck out a pair in an inning of work.
