Elder Earl Benson Lewis went to be with his best friend and Savior Jesus on March 28, 2010, at Salem Place Nursing Home in Conway. 

He was born in Detroit, Mich., on March 9, 1937. 

He is preceded in death by his father, John Benjamin Lewis; mother, Nancy Mae; son, Lanis Earl Lewis; and daughter Dawn Alice Lewis Baird Cox.

He is survived by two sisters, Vivian of Florida and Barbara of Michigan; two daughters, Nancy Ellen Reeves of Spring Hill and Robbin Jean and husband Mackie Land of Conway; three sons, James Benson Lewis and wife Donna of Enola, Denton Henry Lewis and wife Cathy of Conway, and John Alien Brock and wife Twana of Manchester, Tenn. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends he loved dearly. (Also, he is survived by his family at Salem Place. The family sends a special thanks for their love and support through this difficult time.)

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. today at Brown Cemetery North of Barney, Ark. 

Pallbearers will be grandsons James Lewis II, Rodney Kelly, Randy Kelly, Ricky Lewis, Denton Lewis II and Patrick Keener. Honorary pallbearers include Bobbie Thompson, Mackie Land and Mike Wilson.

Brother Ben was a member of Central Baptist Church in Conway but served as a preacher and evangelist throughout much of the country, especially Arkansas, Missouri, Georgia and Florida. 

He taught from scripture that salvation is by grace through faith alone.
