The Carmike Cinema, located at 150 E. Oak St., lost $3,500 and suffered electrical during a break-in early Monday morning.

According to the Conway police report, an employee of the movie theater stated that sometime between 12:30 and 9:30 a.m. Monday, someone entered the business through the roof and broke into the office.

The suspect forced his/herself through the roof and ceiling tiles and gained entry to the office by prying off the deadlock on the door, according to the report. The suspect then cut a square opening in the safe and escaped with the cash drawers, key box and $3,500.

The report also noted that, while entering the building, the suspect cut the electrical wiring that powered the movie projectors. An air conditioner unit was also damaged during the break-in.

While investigating the scene at Carmike Cinema, officers noticed that the air conditioner unit of the Hobby Lobby located next to the theater had also been damaged.

Officials for Carmike Cinema did not return calls seeking comment. The theater was operating as usual Tuesday afternoon.
