LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas Department of Human Services officials say they expect a third lawsuit by the U.S. Department of Justice against five of the state's six human development centers.

DHS Director John Selig said Thursday that the expected third lawsuit is in keeping with what state officials believe is an effort to close the centers. A Justice Department spokesman did not return phone calls for comment.

Earlier lawsuits against the Conway Human Development Center and against the state allege violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act. The act guarantees people with developmental disabilities the right to live in the most appropriate setting for their needs.

The department has been investigating the state's five other human development centers.
