LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — An Arkansas doctor has been found guilty of masterminding a homemade bomb attack that disfigured and partially blinded the state medical board chairman.

A federal jury convicted Dr. Randeep Mann on Monday of plotting the February 2009 attack against Dr. Trent Pierce.

Prosecutors say Mann sought revenge against Pierce because he was furious about being repeatedly disciplined for over-prescribing painkillers.

Defense attorneys argued the prosecution's case was flimsy and that investigators targeted the wrong person because of his race and weapons collecting.

Both sides acknowledged no forensic evidence linked Mann to the bomb planted in Pierce's driveway.

Mann also was convicted of illegally possessing weapons.
