Vilonia’s girls opened the season Tuesday by handing Sacred Heart (12-1) its first loss of the season with a 46-43 victory in double overtime.
Alaina Riley hit a three-pointer in the second overtime to give the Lady Eagles the lead, and Catherine Puckett and Lydia Gordon added two free throws each to secure the win.
Puckett led the Lady Eagles with 12 points. Gordon added 11 points, 5 rebounds and four assists.
Little Rock Christian (2-2) defeated Conway Christian, 63-43.
Christina DenHartog led the Lady Eagles (0-4) with 15 points.
The Warriors also won the boys game, 61-33.
St. Joseph’s senior boys dominated Danville for a 56-33 win on Tuesday night. Matt Snider led the Bulldogs (6-3) with 15 points and grabbed five rebounds. Tyler Jones chiped in 13 points and four assists. Grant Smith was the Bulldogs’ leading rebounder with eight, and Andrew Beck dished out eight assists.
St. Joseph’s senior girls didn’t fare as well, falling to Danville 63-56. the Lady Bulldogs held a one point edge at the half and led by one at the end of the third, but in the final frame, Danville poured in 23 points to seal the victory.
Amy Schichtl led the Lady Bulldogs with 23 points and 14 rebounds. Courtney Briggler added 10 points and blocked four shots.
Both St. Joseph junior high squads picked up convincing victories against Danville. The junior boys topped Danville, 53-24, and the girls cruised to a 36-24 win.
Nash Nichols paced the Bulldogs with 11 points, and Landon Enderlin contributed 10 points. The Lady Bulldogs were led by Rachel Briggler with 10 points, eight assists and four steals.
