LITTLE ROCK (AP) — U.S. Sen. Mark Pryor says he will release his hold on two of seven Treasury Department nominees after the agency suspended efforts to collect money from an Arkansas couple who were among thousands nationwide to receive disaster aid the Federal Emergency Management Agency now calls improper.

Pryor said Friday he was pleased with the department’s decision to suspend collection efforts from the couple. Pryor said he will continue blocking votes on five other nominees.

The Democrat announced Wednesday he would block votes on nominees until the department stopped trying to collect money from the couple. Pryor says the couple received more than $27,000 after a 2008 flood. He says the money was later referred to the Treasury Department for collection and the couple now owes $37,000 after penalties and interest.
