Pastor Bob was out of town this past weekend and the Rev. Doyle Patrick brought the message of "Hope in God" from several scriptures taken from several books of the Bible. Psalms 71:5 & 18 For thou art my hope, O Lord God; thou art my trust from my youth. Now also when I am old and gray-headed, O God, forsake me not, until I have shown thy strength unto this generation, and they power to everyone that is to come. And 1 Peter 3:15 But sancitify the Lord God in your hearts, and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear.
Where is your hope? and is it in the Lord God? My only hope is in God and not anything of this world, because knowing where I will spend eternity, my Lord gives me that hope, peace and joy that nothing of this world can.
"Hope is the anchor of the soul, the stimulus to action, and the incentive to achievement."
Our church is having a yard sale this Friday and Saturday under the pavilion. Several families will have many items there. Come and check it out. Our hours will be 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday and 7 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday.
Our thoughts and prayers this week is for Ted Jones, Patsy Majors and for the family of Alice Martin and Wilson Hull who left us to be with the Lord.
"When we die we leave behind us all that we have and take with us all that we are."
Sunday was a great day at Holland Baptist Church! Before Bro. John Evans Jr. preached David Garrett sung "The Altar". He did a wonderful job of delivering the message of the song. He blessed our hearts as usual. Bro. John’s message was titled "A New Heaven and A New Earth". He said God will desire to walk with me. God originally put man in the garden that He might walk with him. Sin destroyed that relationship. We’ll be brought back to the beginning; man walking with God and God walking with man. The purpose of God will finally be complete. Fellowship with God will finally be unhindered.
At the end of the service my sister, Maureen Fiddler, reunited with the church. She has lived away for many years but recently moves back to Holland. She received a warm welcome back into the fellowship.
We have two more Sundays to fill baby bottles for Life Choices, a pro-life, non-profit, non-denominational Christian organization that serves as a support for individuals and couples that find themselves in a pregnancy situation. We will fill the bottles with loose change. Of course they’ll accept checks or paper dollars as well.
We were saddened at the home going of our next to oldest member, Lowell Grisham. He had been in poor health for a long while. He was a faithful member whom we will miss. We continue to pray for his family.
We invite you to join us for Sunday school at 10 a.m. and worship at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Also on Wednesday nights at 7 for the study of First John by Dr. David Jeremiah led by Jim Johnston.
