SEARCY — Tianna Wilson of Conway is among more than 50 high school students from 11 different states participating in Harding University’s Honor Choir July 15-20.

The summer program is designed for young performers seeking to expand their vocal skills while earning an hour of college credit.

The honor choir activities include classes led by Harding faculty on voice, improvisation, sight reading, music appreciation, poetry, movement and harmonizing. The students are able to experience college life as they stay in dorms on campus, eat in the cafeteria and enjoy devotional and recreational activities.

The session ends with a free concert on campus at 7:30 p.m. July 20 in the Reynolds Recital Hall. Concert selections include "Baba Yetu" by Christopher Tin, "Lord, Make Me Thine Instrument" by David Stanley York, "Sure On This Shining Night" by Samuel Barber, "America the Beautiful" arranged by Carmen Dragon, "Salvation is Created" by Pavel Chesnokov, "Wade in the Water" arranged by Moses Hogan, "Lullabye" by Billy Joel, and a choreographed medley of tunes from Mary Poppins.
