Arkansas State Police responded to a two-vehicle accident at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday at Hwy. 319 near Vilonia.

According to Cpl. Billy Ealy, who worked the accident, the driver of a Mitsubishi Raider attempted to pass a Honda Pilot, sideswiping the Pilot as it went by.

The driver continued north a short distance before losing control of the vehicle and running into a ditch, where the vehicle overturned and caught on fire.

Two children, ages 6 and 8, were airlifted by Medflight and AirEvac to Arkansas Children’s Hospital. Their father, who was the driver of the Raider, was transported by ambulance to UAMS.
